SPECIAL USE AIRSPACE INFORMATION SERVICE The U.S. Air Force provides the Special Use Airspace Information Service (SUAIS) to aid civilian pilots in effectively utilizing Special Use Airspace in central Alaska. The SUAIS allows pilots to obtain the status and schedules for use of several of the Military Operating Areas (MOAs) and Restricted Areas in interior Alaska primarily along the major highway corridors. See their page for details. By using this service, civilian pilots learn when and where military flight operations will most likely occur, and how to avoid conflicts with training exercises. While not an ATC traffic service providing separation, this service is intended to increase safety for civil and military users of special use airspace. |
