Changes to Traffic Pattern Talkeetna (TKA) RWY 18

In response to numerous requests from the flying and non-flying public, and in the best interest of safety, the traffic pattern to TKA RWY 18 is being changed.
Effective May 1st at 0800Z (Midnight Local time),
the traffic pattern to TKA runway 18 will change
to non-standard, right-hand traffic.

Arrival and departure procedures for RWY 36 remaining unchanged. Departure procedures for RWY 18 remain unchanged. A Notice-to-Airman (NOTAM) will be issued starting May 1st and the change will be updated in the next publication of the Alaska Supplement. Anchorage FSDO Security Measures!

Effective immediately the following security policy has been implemented for accessing the Anchorage Flight Standards District Office (FSDO).
No visitors shall be allowed access to FAA facilities without a scheduled appointment.
Please contact (907) 271-2000 to arrange an appointment.
  • Visitor is defined as any individual(s) not in the possession of valid FAA ID.
Exemptions from this requirement are noted below and only when escorted by persons possessing a valid FAA ID :
  • Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Personnel. Access control procedures outlined in FAA Order 1600.69A, FAA Facility Security Management Program, Appendix 6, Section 5, Paragraph 5a and 5b apply.
  • Emergency Services Personnel (Medical, Fire, etc.)
  • Authorized U.S. Military personnel in possession of a valid US Uniform Services ID Card (Facility manager may determine if escort is required based on official duties.)
  • Critical Utility and Service Personnel (i.e., utility service providers, food services, US Postal Service and delivery services, etc.)
  • Positive photo identification is required for all personnel listed as exceptions to the "no visitor" requirement above. A visitor log shall be maintained indicating the date, time, and where possible, copies of the photo identification.
